The goal is to design modular wooden objects with reversible assemblies and optimized packaging that will be incorporated into the Warchée 2024 collection. User experience will be carefully considered, including the processes of assembling and disassembling the object. Key constraints include the volume, weight, and scalability of the object.
The objective is to restore the principle of design democratization through craftsmanship. (Reference: W. Gropius – Bauhaus: the birth of design – "Art must be accessible to all"; originally, the principle of design itself was about democratization.)
The product must therefore be ergonomic, aesthetic, modular, and contemporary. Designed and crafted by women, it holds a social and timeless dimension, as it can be passed down through generations and is intended to circulate globally. The user can turn to Warchée for replacement parts, repairs, or to adapt and evolve the object over time.
The internship will take place in two phases: research and sketches, followed by team collaboration and technical study. The intern will begin by designing the object in collaboration with the carpentry team at the workshop. A back-and-forth between the creation and production phases will allow the development of an object that meets our objectives. Finally, the first prototypes will be produced on-site with the Warchée production team. In 2023, two trainee designers, Oceane Pilette and Lara Bellot, joined the Warchée workshops in Beirut and Tripoli. Together, they designed and prototyped an object called "Geometry" as part of the 'Out of the Box' collection.
